What says it best is what you say... it doesn't matter what words you use, it only matters that you are writing and that you feel the pain they feel and are offering sympathy, comfort, and compassion. The most important note I received when I lost someone very close to me was the one that wasn't eloquently written, or taken from 101 Letters to Write to People, it was the one that came from the heart. It also offered me a shoulder to cry on, a place to stay if I needed a few nights away, and a hug as often as needed - that was important.
